For Astrid Thieme, the new beginning in Mallorca was not only a new start, but also a phase of inner reorientation. Between doubt and the desire for clarity, a process developed that led her back to her creative strength. This experience of searching, layering and blossoming again characterizes the works in the series.
Monumental shell structures become sculptural garments and headdresses. They form both protection and expression. Organic forms envelop the figures and refer to retreat, transformation and the potential to open up anew.
Warm sepia, sand and mother-of-pearl tones create a painterly, dreamy light mood between reality and imagination. Metamorphose is a tribute to female strength and transformation and to the ability to constantly unfold anew.
